Course two: Brenzpark
In 2006, 11th Albuch Open was Germany's Disc Golf highlight. The Open finals took place on Sunday afternoon at the State Garden Show Heidenheim (Landesgartenschau). It's a beautiful park which has been worked on for many years. Flowers, trees and garden architecture were presented in a very beautiful way.
After the State Garden Show has ended, the area is used as city park for the people to walk and chillout. For EC, most of the park is closed for public and we will set up a challenging 18 hole course. It's a beautiful flat area with a river crossing. Many trees - however, no woods - paths and flower areas make this park special. Restaurants with restrooms and toilets are on site.
Since the park entry is in the city, the European Championships is the main attraction during tournament week. This is a great opportunity to attract publicity and to promote Disc Golf. Many paths are on site so we can attract many spectators and still run the rounds smoothly.
Two large parking lots are next to the course.
Of course we will play some of the holes the five open finalists already enjoyed in front of 800 spectators in 2006. While course one at Söhnstetten is widely open but still challenging due to the altitude differences, Brenzpark is the opposite: completely flat with water hazards and tight fairways. This difference will make the EC a real challenge.
Park entry fee is EUR 1,-. Competitors and staff will gain free entry by showing their ID. (including practice days and tournament days)
